We provide driver training courses for both novice driver learning for the first time and experienced drivers that just want a refreshers course and additional motorway training. Our driving lessons are available throughout Falkirk, including Bo'ness, Linlithgow & Denny.
Are you entitled to drive?
To start to learn to drive in Scotland you will need:
A valid UK provisional driving licence
To be at least 17 years old
You can get a UK provisional driving license application from your local Post Office.
Your First Driving Lesson
Once you have contacted me and arranged a time for your first lesson I will pick you up from an agreed location of your choice. We will have a chat so that I can gauge your level of experience and give you a car safety briefing. You will then be given a cockpit demonstration (if you have no previous driving experience) and you will learn where all the driving controls are, what they do and how they work. If time permits you will then be taken for a short drive were you will try out moving off and stopping in 1st gear.
Getting ready for your Theory Test
I will tend to focus entirely on teaching you to drive and will let you practice for your theory test in your own time. If you would like to dedicate part or your entire lesson to learning theory work then please let me know.
There are a number of training aids available to enable you to study for your theory test. If you want I can recommend Driving Standards Agency approved aids that will help you to prepare for your theory test.
If you study the recommended books, computer hazard perception simulations and apply the practical knowledge that you gain, this will assist you in passing your driving theory test.
Getting ready for your Practical Test
During your learning to drive process, I will give you up to date information on what you have covered, how you are progressing and what I believe you need to improve. This will be done verbally at the end of each lesson and if you wish via a record that I will log after every lesson and will forward on to you via email.
I will let you know when I think you are ready to sit you practical test. Once I indicate that you are ready to sit your practical test you can then book the test and I can help you with your final preparations. Please inform me of your test date as soon as possible. For your practical test I recommended that you have a 1 to 2 hour lesson prior to your test so that you are as comfortable and familiar with the vehicle as possible during your test.
